Here is our next big step: Blue Ocean Pioneers

As a part of our ZeP2B long-term plans, which target the attitude change of the locals, we will be initiating the Blue ocean pioneers (BOP) brigade within the coastal school in the Galle area. We have arranged the ceremony on 24th October 2022 with a 6-hour capacity-building seminar to establish the student brigade.

Student representatives from grades 7 to 11 from selected 22 schools will be participating in the event with their teacher in charge of the BOP. The seminar will educate them regarding the marine ecosystems, marine tourist attractions in the area, the impact of plastic pollution on those systems, and the impact of microplastics on marine organisms and humans. Through this program, we hope to build a smart and productive young team with the perfect knowledge to control the plastic pollution in the area and make Galle a zero-plastic city. The program is supported by the government stakeholders and High Commission of Canada to Sri Lanka and Maldives.
